Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a mental health condition marked by intrusive, distressing thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors or mental acts (compulsions) performed to relieve anxiety. OCD is not simply being “neat” or “particular”—it can be exhausting, disruptive, and deeply distressing.
At VP Mindcare, we offer thoughtful, evidence-based psychiatric care for individuals living with OCD, including those who have been misdiagnosed or misunderstood.
Obsessions may include:
Fear of contamination or germs
Intrusive thoughts of harming others or oneself
Excessive doubt or need for reassurance
Religious or moral fears (“scrupulosity”)
Symmetry, order, or exactness
Compulsions may include:
Repeated handwashing, checking, or cleaning
Mental rituals like counting or “canceling out” thoughts
Repeating words, tapping, or arranging objects
Avoiding triggers entirely
Seeking constant reassurance from others
We combine psychiatric expertise with an understanding of how OCD presents across different individuals—including those with co-occurring ADHD, trauma, or autism. Our treatment may include:
Diagnostic evaluation to clarify OCD vs. other conditions
Medication management, typically with SSRIs or adjunctive medications
Support for ERP (Exposure & Response Prevention) when a therapist is involved
Psychoeducation to reduce shame and increase insight
We work closely with therapists to support exposure-based treatment and help clients tolerate distress while reducing compulsive behaviors.
Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) at higher doses are commonly used for OCD, along with other medications to manage anxiety, sleep, or intrusive thoughts. We monitor closely and collaborate with you on dosing strategies.
Adults and teens (age 16+) with diagnosed or suspected OCD
Individuals misdiagnosed with anxiety, ADHD, or trauma
Clients with OCD and comorbid conditions (e.g., tics, depression, disordered eating)
People whose OCD themes are taboo or distressing to share
We provide a judgment-free space where no thought is “too strange” or “too dark.”
Initial evaluation focused on identifying obsessions, compulsions, and insight level
Collaborative treatment plan with optional medication trial
Ongoing support for therapy coordination, symptom tracking, and adjustment
Tools to improve functioning and reduce time spent on rituals or distress

Do you provide ERP therapy?
We do not provide ERP directly, but we frequently work with ERP-trained therapists and support the process with medication, psychoeducation, and care coordination.
What if my OCD thoughts are violent, sexual, or religious?
OCD can involve taboo or intrusive thoughts. We provide a safe, nonjudgmental space and understand that thoughts do not equal intent.
Is OCD related to anxiety or ADHD?
Yes, many individuals with OCD also experience anxiety, trauma responses, or ADHD. We specialize in working with overlapping conditions and complex cases.
